Well, I ain’t no fancy yarn expert, but I know a thing or two about knittin’. You wanna use that Addi knittin’ machine? Alright then, listen up. First off, don’t go buyin’ no silly string yarn. You need somethin’ strong, somethin’ that’ll hold up. They call it “durable” I think, fancy words.
Think wool, like from a sheep. That’s good stuff. Or that acrylic, it’s like plastic but soft. Cotton works too, like yer old t-shirts. They even mix ’em up sometimes, call it blends. Just make sure it ain’t gonna fall apart when you crank that machine.
Now, don’t get no stretchy yarn. You know, the kind that pulls and bounces back. That ain’t gonna work right in the machine. It’ll make yer knittin’ all wonky, like a crooked fence. You want somethin’ that stays put, somethin’ sturdy.
They say yarn for needles, 4 to 8 mm, that’s what they recommend for the Addi. Whatever that means. But don’t just go buyin’ anythin’ they tell ya. You gotta try it out, see if it works. Some yarns, they just get all tangled up in the machine, makes a big mess.
Don’t buy them thick yarns! You know, the ones that say 7mm or 8mm needles on the tag. Too thick, they are. Makes the knittin’ all tight and ugly. Sure, you can use ’em, but it ain’t gonna look good, and you gotta go real slow.

I saw this thing about baby alpaca yarn. Fancy stuff, all soft and smooth. They say it’s good, no scratchin’. But I ain’t tried it myself. Probably costs a pretty penny too.
Now, some folks, they learn by watchin’, like my grandson. He can’t figure nothin’ out unless someone shows him. If you’re like that, you might wanna look for patterns online. Folks sell ’em on somethin’ called Etsy. I don’t know much about it, but they say it helps.
They also say somethin’ about “gauge”. No idea what that means, sounds like somethin’ for a car. But they say not every yarn is good for the Addi machine. So you gotta be careful, pick the right one.
Lots of folks are usin’ these knittin’ machines now. They call it Sentro or Addi, same thing, I think. People are always lookin’ for the best yarn to use. Lots of folks like that acrylic stuff, says it’s the best. I dunno, I just use what I got.
