Okay, so, I finally caved and bought one of those Addi King knitting machines. I’d seen them all over the internet, and everyone seemed to be making cool stuff with them. I was, like, “I gotta try this!”
So the first thing I did was, I unboxed it. It came with the machine itself, some yarn, and a little instruction book. I set it up on my table, and I gotta say, it looked a little intimidating at first. All those needles and cranks. But I figured, “How hard can it be?”
I started with the instruction book. It wasn’t super clear, to be honest. But I messed around with the machine for a bit, and I started to get the hang of it. You just thread the yarn, turn the crank, and the machine does the knitting for you. It’s pretty wild, actually.
My first project was a simple scarf. I just used some basic yarn I had lying around. I loaded the yarn onto the machine, started cranking, and watched as the scarf started to grow. It was so fast! I couldn’t believe how quickly it was knitting. It would have taken me, like, a week to knit a scarf that long by hand. With this thing, it took just a couple of hours.
Here’s what I’ve learned so far:
- The Addi King is way faster than hand knitting. I mean, it’s not even close. You can crank out projects in a fraction of the time.
- It’s pretty easy to use, once you get the hang of it. There’s a little bit of a learning curve, but it’s not too bad.
- You can make all sorts of things with it. I’ve seen people make hats, scarves, blankets, even sweaters!
After I made that first scarf, I started getting a little more adventurous. I tried making a hat, and that turned out pretty well too. Then I started looking online for more patterns. There are tons of them out there! People have come up with all sorts of creative ways to use these machines.
I found this one pattern for a twisted headband, and I thought, “I have to try that!” So I did. And it turned out great! It was so easy, and it looked really professional.
What I love about the Addi King:
- It’s fun! Seriously, it’s like magic watching this thing knit.
- It’s a great way to make gifts for people.
- It’s perfect for when you want to make something quickly.
- You can use it for thicker yarns.
I’m still learning, and I’m excited to try more complicated patterns. If you’re thinking about getting one of these machines, I say go for it! It’s a lot of fun, and you can make some really cool stuff with it.
Now I’m still a newbie, but I thought that I could probably try to make a small blanket. Maybe I just need to knit a few panels and then put them together? I’ll let you guys know how that turns out. But I’m feeling ambitious. Wish me luck!
