Okay, so, I’ve been getting into this whole knitting thing. It’s way more fun than I thought it would be! I wanted to see if I could make something more complex than a scarf. Then I stumbled upon these knitting machines. I saw the name “addi” a lot, so I figured, why not give it a shot? They’ve got these books, right? Packed with patterns and stuff. I gotta say, diving into these addi knitting machine books was quite the adventure.
Finding the Books
First things first, I had to find these books. I went on a little hunt online and checked out a few craft stores. I didn’t want to order online, because I like to flip through the pages. The selection was, well, not huge, but I managed to snag a couple that looked promising. One was all about socks, which seemed cool. Another one had a bunch of different projects, like hats and scarves, but fancier than the basic stuff I’d been doing by hand. The other book that I bought was about the best yarn to use. Not a pattern book, but a very good one. Also, I grabbed some yarns.
Choosing a Project
Next up, picking a project. The sock book was tempting, but I decided to start with something from the mixed project book. I found this pattern for a hat that looked pretty neat. It had some interesting color changes and looked like it wouldn’t take forever to finish. And the pattern suggested a specific yarn, which was good for me. I get confused by all the different yarn types.
Setting Up the Machine
Now, the fun part – actually using the machine. I’m not gonna lie, it was a little intimidating at first. But I followed the instructions in the book, and got it set up. Casting on was a little tricky, but I got the hang of it after a few tries. It was a lot different from hand knitting.
Knitting Away
- Cranking: Once I got the yarn on there, it was time to start cranking! The books had step-by-step instructions for each pattern. I’m not gonna lie, it took me a little while to get the hang of it. It was kinda fun to do the cranking though.
- Color Changes: This hat pattern had some color changes, which added a little bit of a challenge. But it was really satisfying to see the different colors come together.
- Finishing Touches: After all the cranking, I had to take the hat off the machine and finish it up. The book had instructions for that too. I sewed up the seam, and added a pom-pom. It was more work than I expected.
The Final Result
And, there you have it! My first project from an addi knitting machine book, complete! It wasn’t perfect, but I was pretty proud of it. I’m not so sure that I will make any more hats. I have two already. I might try to make socks, because I have that sock pattern book. I might make socks for my family. I don’t know. Anyway, these addi knitting machine books are definitely a good way to learn how to use these machines and make some cool stuff. I’m excited to try out more patterns and see what else I can create!
